A minecart is an entity that you can ride to move faster through the world.

They are crafted using 6 iron ingots and a stick.

How to craft a rail

To use them you need to know these 3 tips:

  • To enter or exit them, press the right click while aiming at them.
  • To make them move simply push them.
  • To break them punch them a few times.

They have some limitations:

  • They only stop when colliding with a block or entity and have no deceleration when going in a smooth terrain.
  • It can be difficult to break them if they are in movement.
  • If you accidentally exit one in a long railway, you'll have to walk a lot, this can be solved by carrying many minecarts.

The rails:

  • A rail can only be placed on the top of a block, not in the bottom or a side.
  • Rails will break if entered in contact with water or lava.
  • You can walk on rails.
  • Rails cannot be floating.
  • Rails can turn, they will automatically connect with others nearby
  • Rails can go up and down ramps with a max angle of 45º

Mechanisms with rails and minecarts

There are many things you can do with rails. From making them change direction with a lever to improving the minecart speed with a second path.
